A user supplies a subject name, canonical domain, aliases, category and use-case description, market, locale, and optional competitors. The system freezes a test and compares web-grounded answers from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and xAI through Vercel AI Gateway. It is an API-grounded benchmark. It does not claim that its responses are identical to the providers' consumer chat interfaces, which can differ in prompts, personalization, routing, model selection, and search behavior. The product is best suited to consultants, agencies, and in-house teams that need a bounded baseline, evidence-linked deliverable, or comparable post-implementation rerun. Continuous monitoring is a better fit when a team needs daily alerts, long-running prompt trends, Perplexity coverage, or consumer-interface replication. ## AI visibility AI visibility describes how often and how prominently a brand appears when AI systems answer relevant category and buyer questions. It should not be reduced to one unexplained score. Useful measurement keeps brand mentions, prominence, selected-competitor share of voice, claimed-domain citations, and provider coverage separate, with the underlying answer and source evidence available for review. ## Generative engine optimization Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of making a brand and its expertise easier for AI answer systems to understand, retrieve, and cite. It complements SEO. Practical priorities include consistent entity facts, direct answers to buyer questions, original source-worthy evidence, relevant third-party corroboration, technically accessible public pages, and repeated measurement across a frozen question set. No tactic guarantees inclusion in a generated answer. ## Answer engine optimization Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the answer-focused core of GEO: mapping content to the questions buyers actually ask, leading pages with self-contained answers, keeping facts extractable in prose and structured markup, holding entity facts consistent, publishing citable evidence, and earning third-party corroboration. Success is measured as inclusion and citation in generated answers rather than ranking position. No AEO tactic guarantees inclusion, which is why repeated measurement against a frozen question set matters. ## Frozen question set Every benchmark v2 run freezes exactly 25 questions, the model IDs, locale, timestamp, prompt versions, cohort mix, grounding mode, and scoring version. - 20 discovery questions are neutral category or use-case questions. They must not contain the target name, its aliases, or its canonical domain. - 5 diagnostic questions explicitly name the target to examine trust, comparisons, pricing, support, implementation, and factual knowledge. The exact frozen set is sent to each of four providers, creating 100 planned provider answers: 25 from each provider. ## Grounding and scoring eligibility Provider requests use a shared bounded web-search harness. There is no plain-text fallback. A result is score-eligible only when the provider call succeeds and returns valid HTTP or HTTPS sources. Failed calls, unsupported search, and answers without valid sources remain visible in coverage but do not enter eligible-score denominators. ## Metrics - Discovery visibility: target-mentioned eligible discovery answers divided by eligible discovery answers. - Conservative visibility floor: target-mentioned discovery answers divided by all planned discovery answers. - Coverage: eligible answers divided by planned answers. - Prominence: mean of lead = 1, shortlist = 0.67, incidental = 0.33, and absent = 0 across eligible discovery answers. - Share of voice: target answer-entity mention events divided by all target and selected-competitor answer-entity mention events, counting an entity at most once per answer. - Claimed-domain citation rate: eligible answers citing the canonical domain or one of its subdomains divided by eligible answers. - Sentiment: positive, neutral, and negative distribution among target-mentioned answers. It is not labeled as factual accuracy. Coverage is displayed beside visibility. Metrics are provisional below 90% coverage. ## Interpretation limits A run is a time-stamped directional snapshot because web search and model responses vary. The generated question set is not claimed to be random or statistically representative. With 25 questions, a simple worst-case interval is roughly plus or minus 20 percentage points. That interval is a scale cue, not a precision or representativeness claim. ## Privacy, evidence, and billing Runs are private to their authenticated owner. The product retains the frozen questions, normalized answers and sources, relevant model and prompt versions, metric labels, usage, and exclusion reasons. Complete raw provider payloads are not retained. The default answer-retention window is 30 days. The billing model sells prepaid benchmark credits through Stripe-hosted Checkout. It is not a subscription. A first benchmark is $9; later packages are $15 for one, $39 for three, and $99 for ten. Credits are valid for 12 months, and Stripe confirms the final amount and applicable taxes before payment.
